2020 Kitchen Trends

Design styles are known to change and evolve, but the last few years, we have seen a major leap in kitchen trends. Technology is changing the way we cook, and as floor plans have become more open, the kitchen has become the statement room in most houses.

Here are a few trends you can expect to see more of in 2020.

Pops of Color

Move over white and grey, kitchens are getting some color! You’ll see more colored kitchens in 2020. Be on the lookout for deep blues, blacks and emerald greens.

Natural Finish

Wood components in a kitchen are bringing character and warmth to kitchens. Natural walnut countertops and oak drawer fronts and islands are just the beginning. Accent stained hoods work well with the new kitchen colors.

Bling is In

More emphasis is being put on faucets and cabinet hardware. Mixed metals are totally acceptable and can add interest to the kitchen. Cabinet hardware is made to look more and more like furniture pulls and the sizes are getting larger for impact in the space. Faucets are getting fancy finishes and are designed to catch your eye. Pot fillers and veggie sink faucets all add to the “kitchen bling.”

Mirrored and metal accents are a wonderful way to add sparkle to a kitchen. This picture shows how we made the refrigerator hidden to look like an armoire behind mirrored doors.

Stealthy Storage

The age of clean and simple has arrived. Hidden areas for small appliances, panels for dishwashers and refrigerators, USB ports and plugs in drawers, pop up stand mixers, wine bottle storage and hidden coffee stations will be hot this year.

Smart & Techy

Products are getting smarter and kitchens are reaping the benefit. Fridges can keep food fresh longer by using a vacuum drawer. You can actually see inside your refrigerator on your iPhone from your Bora Bora vacation to determine if the babysitter needs to buy more milk. Steam ovens and probes sense the foods temperature ensuring you never overcook your Thanksgiving turkey again. Siri and Alexa can control your kitchen lighting (and just about anything else). Manufacturers can log into the appliance virtually, and do a diagnostics check, and then they can actually order the needed part.

2020 will prove to be a big year for kitchen changes! Whether you’re designing a brand-new dream kitchen or you’re remodeling a tired one, call the Lisa G team. We make living beautiful.
